Follow Friday #1

Welcome to Hopelessly Book-Fevered!

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can read

Question for this week is: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

I can't think of any genre that I particularly avoid. I enjoy reading almost all 'cause I feel that I discover something new in a each genre. What I do avoid though are books which take a long time before they get into the real point of the story. Like read 100 pages that's when the story begins. If the book doesn't snag my attention by the 10th page (and that is because I'm willing to give it time to warm up), then I put it aside.

What about you? Please leave a comment and your FF link. Look forward to read your answers.

Thanks for stopping by. :)

  1. You have a good point at that. But I still have a genre that I really won't like. And that is western.

  2. Slow books aren't my favorite either. It's like the first 100 pages were a waste of paper. There are some exceptions though- I know a lot of people think The Host dragged in the first half but it really picks up after that. Its always hard to decide when to just give up the book though because you never know if the next page is when it'll start getting good =)

  3. New follower here. For me it's memoirs and autobiographies.

  4. Slow books are just boring and annoying. It's like you waste your time on to get it and turns out to be so awful! My FF!

  5. Agreed. There are books that live from being slow and are very rewarding in the end, or books where the true changes are so darn small that it has to be slow paced, but most of the times I don't want to spend 100 pages with a protagonist that either infodumbs me or is thinking about the exact shade of haircolor his or her secret crush has.

    Happy Weekend!
